A Long but Fun Day in Leeds

I have been up in Leeds this week fro the start of the University’s academic year. I was commissioned by an internet network provider to capture a typical Students Life. The company called cablecom http://www.cablecomnetworking.co.uk/    wanted to show students having fun, going out and about, drinking, eating, learning. The key points were they had to be seen to be interacting with the internet and to capture it all unposed.

We had multiple locations set up round Leeds and had employed 15 students from a model agency. a minibus, runner art director and producer… oh plus me. Quite a lot on my shoulders to get the look right. I was pleased that the brief was to make it look totally natural. The students were brilliant, very easy to work with Funnily enough if you just ignored them and gave them no direction at all they did exactly what we wanted them to do. Which was to sit chatting and constantly on their phones. So we obviously were spot on with the creative brief.

For the models it must have been a dream gig. Just turn up chat a bit with your mates, get driven to several pubs and clubs, have drinks and food (paid for by us), go home! But because of that we got exactly what we needed. A very well organised day. After the students left we then used the younger office staff to go round the pubs in Leeds for the night time part. In all I left home at 5.45am and finally put my camera away 11pm. A long day but great fun for me. Mad a good change from food on a plate or being in the middle of a muddy field. Mind you having said that off upto Scotland for a beef farmer, so back to the mud.
