Last week I had travelled down to Devon to document the Ambrosia factory.
The home of Custard, (though there was very little of the yellow stuff to be seen). Whenever I get the opportunity to go behind the scenes of our Uk’s food production I am struck by how high the standards are in this country.
The level of investment in the safety, quality and enviroment are incredible. When we pop into the supemarket to buy a tin of custard we have very little idea of the journey that humble tin of pudding joy has made. From the milk collected at 5am at Lizard point, to the tankers taking it to be processed, then over to the custard factory deep in a Devonshire valley. Then off again accross the Uk. The numbers involved from litres of milk to pounds in new investment are eye watering. The continued research into better more efficient ways of production or conservation of the enviroment are never seen but endless.
The more we show how our food producers make the day to day the products, the better educated we become and the less we take for granted.
