Corfu Olive Grove

The short list for the Pink Lady food photographer of the year has been announced this week. My

photograph of this haunting olive grove in Corfu has managed to make it onto that list! It was at the back of where I was staying and I found the trees fascinating.

The filtered light falling on the trunks, highlighting the strange holes, the noise of the insects, all making it a truly unique habitat. I am guessing the trees are very old as they did not seem to be yielding many olives.

And I would love to know what caused the holes in the bark that give them their distinctive look.

It was entered in the food in the field category which is how it gets into the competition. I will copy a link in this so you can pop over and see all the amazing shortlisted photographs. There were over 9,000 images entered from around the world; so this ancient tree should be pretty proud of itself.
