Co-op Pizza Launch

Last Autumn I was sent to Lecce in Puglia to photograph a Nonna and her starter dough.
This mother dough is now in the dna of a new range of limited edition Pizzas on sale at the Co-op. The dough is 75 years old and gives the Pizza that authentic Italian taste.
We photographed Nonna Rizzo with her daughter in their kitchen working with the dough called Arturo (Arthur) and then being used in a wood fired oven to make the most amazing pizzas.
They are now being made in the Uk using a comercial sized wood fired oven and they are still using part of Arturo as the base and just feeding him so he keeps giving. They have also gone to great detail with the other ingredients such as tomatoes from Italy to try and make their product as authentic as possible. Our pictures were embargoed until the launch (March) so I can now share them. Some of my pictures are also on the back of the packaging.
Lecce is an amazing ancient town and the people and their culture and history are so connected. A really lovely few days work.
