At last

It was great to finally get back into the fields again. It had been over two years since I put my boots on and stepped out into the fascinating landscape of British farming.

For the BBC Countryfile I was sent to a hemp (Cannabis) farm to learn about its amazing versatility. Not only in healing and soothing oils, but in its great use in eco building. For more you will have to wait until Countryfile air the story. Ground breaking work though, so watch this space.

And for a very proactive medium sized food producer we were in the Lancashire reclaimed silt fields focussing on several farmers that grow the raw ingredients for their Kimchi.

I have said it many times before, but I am always suprised and deeply impressed by the standards of our growers. Even with Brexit, shortage in workforce, and logistics they strive to be the best they can. One of the farmers talked for over an hour about his Kale crop. On the face of it not the most exciting subject, but with his entusiasm we were all hooked.

We walk along the shelves in our supermarkets grumbling about the veg but if you were ever to see how much investment in, time, money, knowledge and just honest care; that goes into the Uk farming industry I think you would look at the humble carrot in a new light.

I hope this could be the start of my career finally coming out of the dark .
