Microwave Meals in a Mug

Theo Michaels was on This Morning with Philip and Holly this week showing how to make great meals in a mug in a microwave. We shot the book earlier this year and it is just out now. It was hilarious to see Philips face as Theo Cooked stuffed chicken breast wrapped in pancetta all in a mug.

They looked very doubtful when it came to tasting the end product. But all agreed it tasted lovely. When we were photographing it, I have to admit I did think we were stretching the point at times. But some of the recipes were brilliant and looked amazing. By the end of the project I was converted.

It is incredible what can be achieved with a mug and a microwave. A students dream I would have thought. It did add a certain challenge to the photography. How to keep the book looking interesting when every shot has a food in a mug. And ofcourse you only really see the surface of the recipe, which is not always the interesting bit. Our prop stylist had collected a small mountain of mugs. A total value of over £600.00 so we needed to be careful.

The end results though were great. The book now out looks wonderful, and would make a great Christmas present. Having both great recipes but also the novelty value. you can amaze your friends and family in serving up posh nosh from a microwave and in a mug. Perfect!
